Terri Allred, MTS

Terri Allred is a dynamic leader with a diverse range of expertise and a deep commitment to creating positive change in her community. She excels as a facilitator, leveraging her training in conflict management and difficult conversations to navigate challenging situations and foster productive dialogue.

Terri's professional journey includes serving as the Executive Director of six small nonprofits, where she cultivated strong partnerships across disciplines to better serve her community. Passionate and energetic, Terri approaches her work with enthusiasm and a genuine desire to make a difference. Her personal experiences growing up food insecure have instilled in her a deep understanding of and empathy for individuals from all walks of life.

Terri's passion for justice led her to a career working with sexual assault and domestic violence survivors directly after completing her Master of Theological Studies in Feminist Theology. After working as a trauma therapist with survivors and perpetrators of violence for a decade, she moved into nonprofit management and systems-change in order to make a more comprehensive impact on this social issue. Terri's background as a former therapist further enhances her skill set, as she possesses excellent listening skills, the ability to read the room, and an intuitive understanding of interpersonal dynamics and the impact of stress and trauma.

One of Terri's notable strengths lies in her ability to convene diverse perspectives and facilitate consensus building. She has a proven track record of bringing together stakeholders with differing viewpoints to reach common solutions, as demonstrated through her work with the Rochester Nonprofit Consortium and state-wide multidisciplinary collaborations in three states. Terri served as Executive Director of 6 nonprofits in three states. Now in her role as a nonprofit consultant and coach, she specializes in helping nonprofits in crisis or transition to stabilize and thrive. She brings her trauma-informed lens to her work with each consulting and coaching client.

Terri's commitment to collaborative change-making is evident in her ability to rally stakeholders towards collective action. She has played an instrumental role in state-wide and local legislative and social advocacy initiatives, championing causes related to sexual assault and working to enact positive change. With her exceptional capacity to assimilate vast amounts of information and recognize patterns, Terri empowers others to tap into their own analytical abilities. Flexible and comfortable with discomfort, Terri is known for her agility and ability to pivot immediately when needed. She embraces challenges as opportunities for growth and views change as a catalyst for innovation.

Her dedication to diversity, equity, and inclusion is evident in her former roles as the Chair of Equity and Justice at the Minnesota Council of Nonprofits and Chair of the Commitment to Racial Justice in Rochester, MN. Terri also launched and hosted an international, live discussion series called “Ask Me Anything” targeted to discuss the racism and cultural appropriation in the trans-cultural fusion dance community. Her current work with the Diversity Crew as a trainer and partner further emphasizes her commitment to fostering a more inclusive and equitable nonprofit sector.

As a professional dancer, instructor, and performer, Terri published an instructional DVD that was distributed internationally. She created the Beyond Dance Business Academy serving 3,000 dance professionals across the world with live and on-demand training and coaching. As an event producer, Terri has hosted several fundraising events for nonprofits. She also founded the annual Homecoming/Reunion Conference for the international dance community practicing trans-cultural fusion dance. She produced this conference for eight years annually, first in San Francisco and then in Phoenix, until the pandemic forced its closure. She brought the Women and Spirituality Conference to Rochester, MN for two years after its 40 year production in Mankato, MN. Finally, as a volunteer and board member of the Rochester International Association, Terri worked on and then produced the annual World Festival for 10 years.
